Understanding Net Worth
Your net worth is one of the most important numbers in your financial life, and Findex calculates it for you automatically. It represents the difference between everything you own and everything you owe — giving you a clear, honest picture of your overall financial position.

How Net Worth is Calculated
Findex uses a straightforward formula:
Net Worth = Total Assets - Total Liabilities
Total Assets — The combined current value of every investment in your portfolio, including listed equity, real estate, crypto, cash, and everything else.
Total Liabilities — The combined balance of all debts and obligations you've added, such as mortgages, loans, and credit lines.
The result is your net worth — a single number that summarizes your financial standing.

Where to Find Your Net Worth
Click Dashboard in the sidebar.
Your net worth is displayed prominently at the top, alongside your total assets and total liabilities.
You can also see how your net worth has changed over time using the Net Worth Graph. For more on that, see Understanding the Net Worth Graph.

What Counts as an Asset
Everything in your Portfolio > Investments list contributes to your total assets. This includes:
Assets you added manually
Assets imported from a connected provider
IR assets managed by companies through the Findex IR Portal
Each asset's current value is converted to your preferred currency before being added to the total.
What Counts as a Liability
Everything in your Portfolio > Liabilities list contributes to your total liabilities. This includes:
Mortgages and property loans
Personal loans and credit lines
Any other debts or obligations you've added
Just like assets, liability values are converted to your preferred currency for consistent calculations.
Automatic Updates
Your net worth updates automatically whenever:
You add, edit, or remove an asset or liability.
A connected provider refreshes your asset values.
A company updates your IR asset valuation.
Forex rates change (for holdings in currencies other than your preferred one).
You never need to calculate anything yourself — Findex keeps the number current for you.
Tips
Add both assets and liabilities — Your net worth is only accurate if it reflects both sides. Don't forget to include mortgages, loans, and other debts.
Update manual valuations regularly — Provider-connected and IR assets update on their own, but manual assets rely on you to keep the current value accurate.
Track trends over time — A single net worth number is useful, but watching how it changes month over month is even more powerful. Check the Net Worth Graph for historical trends.
